'plot' on Murcia mayor

Negros Occidental Board Member Reynaldo Depasucat yesterday condemned the alleged assassination plot against Murcia Mayor Esteban Coscolluela.

Depasucat who is the chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights of the Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan, said others may say that it is a plain and simple political gimmickry, but the matter cannot be left alone uninvestigated.

Governor Joseph Maraņon said he has made representations with the government intelligence community to verify the alleged plot, which the suspects have slammed as "black propaganda."

On Monday, Coscolluela presented a supposed assassin, Reynaldo Golez who claimed that he was offered P100,000 by "carinderia owner," Lina Lazanas, to kill the mayor.

Also implicated in the alleged assassination plot were Murcia Councilor Helen Clavecillas, a former police officer, and Lino Lazanas, husband of Lina.*GPB
