GMA help sought
for new airport

President Gloria Arroyo last night appealed for support for her Team Unity senatorial candidates at a dinner in Malacaņang for a few governors, among them Negros Occidental Gov. Joseph Maraņon.

Maraņon said the president stressed the need for the Team Unity bets to win for the country to be able to move forward.

The governor has said that he will work hard for the Team Unity but cannot guarantee a 12-0 win.

Several Team Unity senators also spoke at the dinner on their platforms for the Senate.

Maraņon said he handed to the president a letter of Kabankalan Mayor Pedro Zayco asking that the navigational equipment of the old Iloilo airport be given to the airport to be built in Kabanakalan City.

The governor also asked for the transfer of the National Food Authority in Bacolod City to a bigger area and for a satellite jail for Bacolod, Bago, Talisay, Silay and Murcia to be built.*CPG
