Bayawan forms team for tourism

Mayor Gerry Saraņa has ordered the creation of a team to promote tourism and investment opportunities in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.

February 8 of every year has been declared as "motorsports month" in Bayawan for Philippine drag racers and those from neighboring Asian countries, team vice chairman Councilor Mark Fidencio Aurelia, chairperson of the tourism and health committees of the Bayawan Sanggunian, said.

A "bike-for-a-cause" initiated by Rep. Henry Pryde Teves will also be held to promote responsible bike ownership, as well as a "bike-for-children" campaign where kids will be given educational materials. Bayawan celebrates its parochial fiesta in September, and marks its Charter Day anniversary in December where a Belen Festival is featured, all aimed at drawing domestic and foreign tourists.*JG
