Ferrer denies eyeing
governorship in 2010
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4th district) yesterday denied that he is eyeing the governorship of Negros Occidental in 2010.

Ferrer said he will concentrate on the needs of the fourth district of Negros Occidental, which he represents, adding that it is too early to even talk about 2010. Gov. Joseph Maraņon is on his third and last term as governor of Negros Occidental and among the other possible contenders for his post whose names have surfaced so far are Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco, Rep. Jose Carlos Lacson (Neg. Occ, 3rd District) and former Rep. Carlos Cojuangco.

Zayco who has served as vice governor of Negros Occidental for three terms is the likely successor of Maraņon but he has also expressed interest in returning to being mayor of Kabankalan City.*CPG
