tackles disaster recovery

A two-day gathering of psychologists from the Visayas and Mindanao, will be held April 20-21, at the Silliman University in Dumaguete City, a press release from the school said.

The 10th psychology regional forum will discuss psycho-social processing and stress debriefing, for survivors of calamities. It will also offer simulation exercises that test the ability of the participants to deal with patients under various disaster scenarios.

A seminar on “Mental Health Management” and “Trauma Healing and Recovery” will highlight the first day with Dr. Gail Tan-Ilagan, a professor at the Ateneo de Davao University, as facilitator, the press release said.

Interactive sessions on “Leveling-Off Usual Practices: A Stimulation” and “Debriefing the Debriefers” will mark the second day, with Dr. Joey Marie Jegonia of Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City as speaker, the press release added.*
