LP Negros meet

President Benigno Aquino and Transportation and Communication Secretary Mar Roxas have been invited to a Liberal Party convention in Negros Occidental on May 4 and 5, Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) , Negros Occidental LP chairman, said Saturday.

Benitez said he is optimistic that more elected officials, including mayors in Negros Occidental, will join the LP.

The convention in Negros Occidental is long overdue, we will step up the strengthening of the LP in Negros Occidental, he said.moremoremore

Mirasol joining
president’s party

Binalbagan Mayor Alejandro Mirasol yesterday said that he is slated to join the Liberal Party.

Mirasol, who is the official candidate of the United Negros Alliance for the vacant 5th district congressional seat in the June 2 special elections, also said that he was assured of support by the LP, through its provincial chairman, Rep. Alfredo Benitez.

Mirasol was the first mayor of Negros Occidental in 2010 to openly support the presidential bid of President Benigno Aquino III, although he belongs to the Nationalist Peoples Coalition-United Negros Alliance party. moremoremore

Alejandrino passes away

Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Secretary Nilo Alejandrino, 58, passed away Saturday at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center in Bacolod City reportedly after suffering a stroke.

Alejandrino had reportedly been confined at the intensive care unit for six days before he died. One of his staff said he died from complications.

Alejandrino was meted the penalty of dismissal from service, cancellation of eligibility, forfeiture of retirement benefits, and perpetual disqualification from reemployment in the government service by the Office of the Vice Mayor for the administrative case filed against him by Distrito.moremoremore
