Ten teams see action when the 2012 Batang PBA Negros Occidental leg opens on May 5 at the West Negros University Gym in Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said.

The tournament sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas ends May 15 with the winner advancing to the regional finals on May 19-20, also at the WNU Gym.

The participating teams will be divided into two brackets and will play in single round-robin with the top two teams in each group clashing in crossover semifinals.

The provincial champion from Negros Occidental will face their counterparts from Cebu and Iloilo in the regional finals with the winner earning the right to represent the Visayas area to the national finals on May 17 to June 1 in Manila, the press release said.

Meanwhile, SBP provincial director and appointing officer, Tony Agustin, said he and tournament commissioner Jake Azucena will attend the Batang PBA general meeting today, 2 p.m. in Quezon City to discuss details of the tournament.*
