SJI Alumni to hold Fun Run

A fund-raising activity dubbed “Run Ko, Pag-asa Mo- Hua Ming Fun Run/Walk 2012” will be held by the St. John’s Institute Alumni Association, in cooperation with the SJI Parents’ Council for the benefit of the SJI Alumni Association Scholarship program on August 19, a press release from SJI said.

The event is open to those willing to join and will cover three distances – 1-kilometer, 3-kilometer, and 5-kilometer with the start and finish points set at the SJI campus in Bacolod City.

The route will be from SJI to 6th Street, turning Lacson Street to Robinson’s Place Mandalagan for the 5K turnaround . Assembly time is at 5:30 a.m. and the race will start at 6 p.m., the press release said.

Registration fee for the three categories are P300 for the 5K participants, P250 for the 3K event, and P100 for the 1-K runners. Students P50 each, limited to 1K distance only.

The 5K and 3K entries will include a free T-shirt, and refreshments will to be provided after the race. More than 30 raffle prizes will also be given away.

Top 10 winners for both male and female in all categories will receive medals, with cash prizes to be given to the top three winners in the 5K and 3K categories, the press release said.

A finisher’s medal will be given to all 5k finishers.

Meanwhile, as a side event, a 5K Group Walk Challenge sponsored by Cityscape Residences will also be held.

Vying for the P10,000 cash prize are the Capitolville Walkers Club, Sta. Clara Walkers Club, St. Scholastica Alumni Walkers, and a possible 4th group St. Mary’s Association of Queen of Peace Parish.

Registration is ongoing at the Run Club, Robinson’s Place Bacolod and at the SJI Alumni Office. For inquiries, interested parties are advised to call Lauren Megan Aguilar at the Alumni Secretariat at 476-9433 or 09173000735, the press release said.
