AT CIRCUMFERENTIAL ROAD
SP approves
rerouting scheme

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A temporary rerouting scheme for the portion of Circumferential Road along the Bacolod City Government Center that is under reconstruction by the Department of Public Works and Highway was approved by the Sangguniang Panglungsod Wednesday, Bacolod City Police Traffic Management Unit head, Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche, said.

Acebuche said the scheme is aimed at easing the traffic congestion in the area.

Vehicles coming from the northern portion of Circumferential Road need to turn right at Burgos Street from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. while trucks will be banned from entering the area during these times.

As for vehicles coming from the southern portion of the Circumferential Road, they will follow a one-way scheme to avoid further traffic congestion at the areas being repaired, he said.

On Tuesday, Acebuche said they received several complaints from motorists regarding the worsening traffic at the Circumferential Road because of the reconstruction, which he said, the DPWH did not coordinate with them before starting.

DPWH District Engineer Rey Venturina, still had not issued any comment on the matter up to yesterday, despite several attempts by the DAILY STAR to contact him.

Acebuche said they expect the repair of the Circumferential Road to take more than three months since two different construction firms are handling the project.

Ten traffic enforcers will be assigned to the area until its repair is finished, he said.

Acting Bacolod Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said he is writing the DPWH for an explanation of their failure to coordinate with the TMU and the Bacolod Traffic Authority before starting the repair of the Circumferential Road.*APN
