Pre-screening of applicants is being held at the Negros Oriental State University main campus in Dumaguete City, and the examinations will be in February.

Quota for Negros Oriental is 60 to 90, and preferred are highly-skilled applicants, like mechanics, with knowledge in electronics, information technology, and the like.

Dionson said the Philippine Marines needs highly-skilled individuals and not just pure combatants.

Recruitment is also being done in Iloilo, Bacolod, Negros Occidental and Palawan.

Applicants must be 18-23 years old, single, at least 5’4” in height, highly-skilled preferred, with at least 72 units in college. High school graduates may apply, provided they bring with them their Technical Education and Skills Development Authority certifications.

Those who pass the examination will undergo training at the Philippines Marines base in Ternate, Cavite.
