USLS beach volley team to
defend title in Bayawan

The University of St. La Salle women’s beach volleyball team will be heading for Negros Oriental today to defend its crown in the 2012 Bayawan City Women’s Beach Volleyball Invitational slated this weekend at the city’s boulevard.

The defending champions will be battling teams from University of San Carlos and University of San Jose-Recoletos from Cebu, host Foundation University-Bayawan, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, and Negros Occidental Volleyball Association in this year’s edition of the tournament. Also joining the competition is a team from Singapore.

Aside from medals and trophies, cash prizes will be awarded to the winners with the champion team getting P10,000, P7,000 for the first runner-up, P5,000 for the second runner-up, and P3,000 for the fourth to eighth placers.

KMH, ASSFBI bowlers
grab lead in Open Trio

Kami Mga Hubin toppled 1,030 pins to snatch the lead in the Class A division, while ESD Electronz/ASSFBI and Condura ASSFBI Ladies booked the top seat in their respective category of the New Top’s Millennium Plaza organized Open Trio Bowling Championship.

KMH of Robbie Elegado is now on top of the heap with 4,129 pinfalls, dislodging erstwhile Sharp of Irne Diaz with 4,109.

Underrated Metro Sales climbed to third overall after scoring a game-high 1,062 to post a commanding 3,952 lead followed by NPBC TNT/Tough Trucks I with 3,946.

Table tennis tourney
set in Talisay today

The two-day 1st Mayor Doc Eric Saratan Table Tennis Invitational starts today at the Tayabas Elementary School in Talisay City.

The competition is open to all Negrense paddlers who will be seeing action in a team event format, tournament official Arnie Uy of the Royal Paddle Table Tennis Club said.

Each team will be compose of three players, either an all-men’s team, all-women’s team or mixed, Uy said.
