Smart to hold SWEEP
on awards Feb. 22

Students and faculty from engineering schools nationwide will again compete for the most innovation wireless applications during the 8th SWEEP Innovation and Excellence Awards of Smart Communications, Inc. at the SMX Convention Center on February 22, a press release from Smart said.

This year’s search for the best wireless applications developed by Smart’s partner schools under the Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program highlights the thrust to go mobile with the theme “Innovation in the Palm of Your Hand”.

A new category has been created to encourage the development of mobile applications that run on the Android platform and which range from entertainment to social networking apps to productivity and privacy tools.

This is on top of the main search that encourages the development of end-to-end mobile broadband applications or solutions using Smart’s platform of products and services to address problems, issues or needs of communities or industries.

Winners are expected to receive cash prizes of as much as P1 million with P500,000 for the champion and an equivalent amount going to the school in the form of a grant, the press release said*
