Sex life

TIGHT ROPE
WITH MODESTO P. SA-ONOY

Hold it! This is not a treatise on how to deal with or manage your sex life but merely a presentation and a commentary on the recent report by the Department of Health on the rise in the incidence of HIV-AIDS in the country. This report was published by the Philippine Daily Inquirer (January 2, 2012).

The report said that by November last year the incidence of this scourge of modern times has jumped to an incredible 90 percent compared to the incidence in 2010. In November 2010, the number of reported cases reached 212, an increase of 112 incidences reported on the same month last year. Note that this number involves only those reported.

This means that the closet or secret HIV-AIDS stricken individuals could be much higher considering that those suffering from this modern sexual disease must be ashamed or afraid of being stigmatized or ostracized by their friends or neighbors once they are identified as infected.

Remember the time when the first victim was discovered in Negros (the person was actually not in this province) and there was almost panic that people were avoiding bars and drinking places as if they were in a house of plague? Remember how media was asked (and they complied) not to reveal the name of the stricken girl? That is how dreadful and how people dread this contagious disease!

Despite the known incurability of this disease, the number of patients has increased, as DOH found, instead of dropping with the millions of dollars being spent to combat this disease. This only shows that the approach or campaign by the government and other groups has failed.

Note other statistics in this DOH report as well as data in other countries where incidence is also rising, and you will admit that the campaign or the thrust of the effort has indeed failed.

Those infected with the disease ranged from the youngest of 17 years to the oldest at 73 with the most number at ages between 20 and 29 years. This group comprises the highest percentage at 58 percent which means that those mostly affected are the ones with a highly active sex life. Interestingly, most of those affected live in the National Capital Region where sexual promiscuity and liberality are high and people are more tolerant and even encouraging through media and the entertainment world.

Another interesting, but not surprising of the findings is that the most common mode or means of transmission of the disease is through sexual contact with males having sex with another male, a sexual aberration that is being promoted by legalized same sex marriages in several countries in America and in Europe.

Though same sex marriage is not allowed in the Philippines, nevertheless the message sent by the Western countries that same sex marriages are all right and normal in direct violation of the human nature. Sexual liberalization advocates, like most promoters of the reproductive health bill create the belief that their sexual life styles should not be limited or curtailed. Thus unnatural sex relationship is growing and creating this modern plague of HIV-AIDS. Recall that AIDS came into this world because of unnatural sex relationship – man with a monkey and the monkey has its revenge.

Another notable finding by the DOH is that “from 2007, there has been a shift in the predominant trend in sexual transmission from heterosexual contact (23 percent) to males having sex with other males (77 percent). Same sex marriages are mostly among males.

The report says that the greatest danger in the spread of disease is the sexual life style and that (in percentage) “all cases acquired the infection through sexual contact (five heterosexual, eight homosexual and 12 bisexual).

Most of the infections are results of sexual contacts with another already infected person. The propaganda of the DOH and advocates of the RH bill creates the idea that it is all right for men and women to engage in sex at any time and with anyone as long as they use condoms or contraceptives. These sex liberals ignore the warnings and we all pay for their promiscuous lives. The so men and women can engage in sex at any time and with anyone. Their propaganda line creates “approval” and even encouragement of sexual life styles that are anchored on lack of self control.

People are not animals that they can engage in sex based on impulse. Even the animals follow the natural process but humans, more than the animals are endowed with reason that can be ignored only at one’s peril.

The findings should tell the DOH that their multi-million peso free condoms and contraceptives will not work. It should use this money on education and stop that silly idea that condoms and contraceptives do not encourage promiscuity and libertine sexual life because they do.

Playing with fire is a sure way of getting burned.*
