City Hall soon free
from cigaret smoking

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Dumaguete Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria issued yesterday Memorandum Circular No. 04, Series of 2012, saying that the city government is willing to take a massive campaign and implementation of the Smoke-Free Ordinance in all public areas in the city, and will start with city hall employees.

Sagarbarria said he has received reports that city government employees are seen smoking right in the City Hall “backyard”.

The non-smoking zones at City Hall include its premises and other city government premises and properties including, offices, hallways, comfort rooms, grounds, parking spaces, compounds, parks/playgrounds, and other places enumerated in the Ordinance.

Department heads, chiefs of office, building administrators of city government areas/properties will ensure compliance with the memorandum.

Violators of the memorandum will be subject to disciplinary actions.

Meanwhile, the City Health Office has displayed posters and “No Smoking” signages in offices and premises at City Hall.*JFP
