Toyota-Bacolod continued its winning streak as the squad claimed its fifth victim, Boston Finance, in a 97-75 victory Monday night in the 1st PROBAC/LNA7 Invitational Basketball Tournament played at the West Negros University gym.

Despite falling behind by a point in the first quarter, Toyota went on to dominate the next three quarters to turn back Boston Finance.

Boston took the lead 24-23 in the opening quarter behind the nine-point production from Jason Yap and Barsage Sekhon’s eight points, while Jojo Patias anchored Toyota with 10 points as teammate Allan Jaena had six points.

Toyota outscored Boston, 24-17, in the second quarter as Rico Cabatu led their offense with 10 points while teammates Bernard Suarte delivered eight and Tony Agustin added five more points for a 47-41 halftime advantage.

Keeping the momentum in the second half, Toyota padded the lead to 15 points at 70-55 at the end of third quarter as Agustin and Troy Sarabia powered Toyota’s offense with six points each, while Vince Lacson and Tivo Hisona controlled the paint with four points apiece.

Villaroman and Matt Delis was Boston’s only weapon in the quarter with six points each.

Everything went Toyota’s way in the final period as the team continued to outscore Boston, 27-20.

Cabatu nailed eight points to lead Toyota’s final run as Keempee Lagrason added seven and Jaena with six points, while Baja fronted Boston with six markers as Baloyo and Villaroman shot five points each.

Cabatu led Toyota with 18 points backstopped by Jaena and Patias with 12 points as Agustin and Lagrason delivered 11 points apiece.

Meanwhile, Villaroman topscored Boston with 17 points, Yap backed him up with 15, Sekhon and Baja with 11 points each, Balayo with 9 and Delis with 8 points.

In the other game, TJ Construction booked its third straight victory in the tournament after defeating the Bad Boys, 86-82.

Sizzling in the second half, Ramonito Gazan anchored TJ’s offense with 21 points.

Despite being down at the half, 39-37, TJ outscored Bad Boys, 49-43 in the second half.

Gazan received ample support from Junior Pelingon, who connected with 13 points, Yobin Vingno with 12, Mitchel Ajejandro with 10 and Boboy Berueda with 8 points.

Phillip Famucol led Bad Boys with 17 points as Badong Eufre shot 16, Ren-Ren Lacson with 12 and Ritchie Militante with 11 points.*NAB
