BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A jeepney driver was hospitalized after a Bacolod City government employee allegedly stabbed him at around 10 p.m. Thursday near the Domingo Lacson National High school in Brgy. Banago.

Senior Insp. Conrado Rances, Police Station 3 chief, identified the driver as Rosarlo Bertuldo, 43, of Fortune Town Subdivision in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City.

Bertuldo sustained a stab wound in his left armpit and was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he is now confined.

Investigation showed that Jose Troy Barquez, 39, of Purok Matahom in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod, and a member of the City Legal Office Enforcement Team, got mad when Bertuldo told him to alight from the jeepney, which led to a fistfight and eventually to the stabbing incident.

Barquez was also brought to the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained, after a relative of Bertuldo, whose name is being withheld, hit him in the head, Rances said.

Cesar Beloria, head of the CLO Enforcement Team, said yesterday he has ordered an investigation into the incident because he received information that Barquez only stabbed Bertuldo to defend himself as the driver and his relative were mauling him.

Beloria said he will not tolerate any member of the CLO enforcement team committing lapses. He assured that if Barquez was at fault, he will be meted appropriate penalties.

Beloria added that Barquez has been with the CLO Enforcement Team for almost 10 years now.*APN
