4 rebels, civilian face raps
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Four members of the New People’s Army and a civilian will be charged in court next week, for the assassination of PFC John Ilisan in Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, Lt. Col. Rodrigo Sosmena, 47th Infantry Battalion commander, said yesterday.

He said they have established the identities of the four NPA assassins and the civilian who coddled them, but withheld their names pending the filing of charges.

Ilisan, a member of the 47IB Peace and Development Team tasked to help farmers in Brgy. Camindangan and neighboring hinterland areas in the acquisition of land, was also robbed after he was killed last month, Sosmena said.

Col. Oscar Lactao, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said the “NPA-coddling” civilian will be included as principal suspect in the death of Ilisan.

Since August last year, two PDT members of the 47IB have been killed, and two others were injured in NPA assassination activities in Cauayan and Sipalay City, military records show.*GPB
