Bad Boys beats Toyota, 83-80

A three-point shot from Raymond Lacson in the final 14 seconds of the game allowed the Bad Boys to beat frontrunner Toyota-Bacolod, 83-80, to post their fourth win while giving Toyota its first loss in the PROBAC/LNA7 Basketball Invitational Tournament at the West Negros University gym, Friday night.

Bad Boys, however, lags behind at No. 8 in the team standings with a 3-5 win-loss card, while Toyota remains at No. 1 at 6-1.

Down by 14 points at halftime, 28-42, the Bad Boys launched a 25-19 run in the third quarter to outscore Toyota and keep the game close going into the payoff period.

Meralco squeaks past Petron,
exits Governor’s Cup in style

Maro West drove to the basket as the time expired to give Meralco a 113-112 win against Petron Blaze and allowed the squad to end its campaign on a high note in the PBA Governor’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last night.

The winning basket summed up West’s game-long heroics, negated the Alex Cabagnot-led Boosters' fiery uprising from the halfway mark of the fourth period and enabled the Bolts to pull off the victory, their second straight against the league heavyweights.

Meralco coach Ryan Gregoio said the team enjoyed the game as it was their goal to end the season on a high note.

Garcia stops Khan in
unification bout

Britain's Amir Khan should think about retirement following his defeat by Danny Garcia, according to his world champion compatriot Carl Froch.

Khan was stopped in just the fourth round by Garcia in Las Vegas on Saturday, and suffered three knockdowns in total, as the American added the World Boxing Association (WBA) light-welterweight title to the World Boxing Council (WBC) belt he already held in a dramatic unification bout.

It was Khan's second straight defeat following his controversial loss to Lamont Peterson, with the American failing a subsequent drug test, and third of his career following an earlier reverse at the hands of Breidis Prescott.
