NORSU to mark 8th Charter day

The Negros Oriental State University will celebrate its 8th Charter Day anniversary on June 25, to mark its conversion from the then Central Visayas Polytechnic College, to NORSU, through Republic Act 9299.

Activities for this year’s celebration include a thanksgiving mass, an all-university academic convocation, and lunch fellowship for faculty, staff, administration, and guests, Dr. Peter Dayot, NORSU vice president for Planning, Research, and International Linkages, said.

Dayot said an entertainment program, titled “NORSU 8th Charter Day Anniversary Celebration after Lunch Show”, will follow at the Bethel Guesthouse, on the theme, “Great Women in History, What You Don’t Know About Them.”

During the show, raffle draws and talent offerings will be performed by representatives from the school’s two main campuses in Dumaguete City, and its satellite campuses in Guihulngan, Bayawan-Sta. Catalina, Mabinay, Bais City, and Pamplona.

Meanwhile, three graduates of the College of Engineering and Architecture of NORSU passed the recent licensure examination for architects given in Manila, a press release from the school said.

They are Anashelo Alcoriza Ansok of Dumaguete City, who graduated in 2010; Ronnie Lubrico Friolanita of Basay, who graduated in 2007; and Bob Ababao Garcia of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, who finished his course in 2006.

NORSU president Henry Sojor said the three were among the six who took the licensure examination, giving the only state university in Negros Oriental a 50 percent passing rate. The national passing percentage is 50.7 percent or 987 out of 1,947 total examinees, the press release added.*
