A night of surprises

BUDDAI

It was her two sons, Vincent and Virgil, who initiated the plan to surprise their mom Daisy Villarosa, married to the late Ruperto Villarosa, and a balikbayan. Her daughter, Ma. Vanessa Valenzuela and husband, Richard, arrived from Jacksonville, Florida with their children Sara, Jacob, Ava and Joshua. Her best friend, Evelyn Inventor, helped them by calling friends and inviting them to the special dinner.

So, at around 6:30 p.m., relatives and friends silently sneaked into the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City, and waited. The children, who invited their Mom to a quiet dinner, suggested they eat near the pool. When they entered, lights were turned on and the guests sang “Happy Birthday” with gusto. Mom Daisy, who was casually dressed in a white blouse and black jeans, was indeed surprised!

With misty eyes, she exchanged pleasantries and greeted her guests. It was a night of so many surprises because almost all her friends, most of them she had not seen for ages, were in attendance!

In town is Ma. Georgina, “Georgette, daughter of George and Janette Garcia Sanchez, who will dance for the benefit of the Kalipay Negrense Foundation Inc., in a performance titled “A plea for Reforestation, A dream to Build”.

Georgette started her classical ballet lesson with her Mom. Realizing her passion for dancing, Georgette planned her journey to centerstage. She became a member of Ballet Philippines under the directions of Agnes Locsin and Cecile Sicangco, to mention a few.

In 2002, she was invited by European choreographer and director Nicolas Musin to join the ABC Dance Company in Australia. The Critics Surveys of Ballet – Tanz and Dance Europe proclaimed Georgette as one of the young dancers to watch and the best dancer for the piece.

Back in the Philippines, Georgette was declared a “Global Pinoy” by SM Megaworld. She is now busy with Locsin’s “Ikalawang Galaw”, a tribute.*

Remember: God said don’t look around because you’ll be impressed; don’t look down as you’ll be depressed; just look to me all the time, and you’ll be blessed.*
