Policeman faces theft raps

Theft charges will be filed before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office today against a policeman, who allegedly stole the underwear of his female boardmate at their boarding house in 13th Aguinaldo Street, in the city, Monday night.

Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said the policeman, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR, was reportedly seen by his boardmate wearing her underwear.

The policeman told AKSYON Radyo Bacolod yesterday that the allegation of is not true and was done to destroy his reputation.

The complainant, whose name the police withheld, claimed that she saw the policeman stealing her undergarments that were hanged in front of her room at about 12 a.m. Monday. She added that she also saw the policeman washing them at about 9 p.m., confronted and demanded that he return them but he allegedly refused and denied that he stole them.

The policeman stressed that everything was orchestrated by one of the personnel of Police Station 2, who is also their board mate.

He claimed that the same person, who was under the influence of alcoholic liquor, boxed him at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday at their boarding house for no apparent reason.

He appealed to the complainant to stop peddling lies because it has affected him and his family.*APN

Ex-security guard
nabbed in anti-drugs operation

Four sachets of suspected shabu, illegal drug paraphernalia and a gun were recovered from a former security guard in a stake-out operation conducted by the Bacolod City Police Special Operations Task Group in Brgy. 7 at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Nabbed was Raymund Grajo, “alias Toting”, 42, of Purok Coca-Cola in Brgy. 7, CAIDSTOG team leader, Senior Insp. Joemarie Occeño, said.

The raid netted an elongated sachet of suspected shabu, additional three small plastic sachets containing the banned substance and a pouch with two improvised tooters, two improvised bamboo clips and four disposable lighters, police records showed.

Aside from the illegal drugs and paraphernalia, the police also recovered from Grajo a .22 caliber Magnum revolver, two empty shells and five live ammunitions , also of the same caliber.

Occeño told the DAILY STAR that Grajo was arrested on complaints of a concerned citizen, who claimed that the suspect’s house is being used for their pot sessions by drug addicts.

Grajo was recently released on bail for illegal drug charges filed against him sometime in 2002, Occeño said, adding that, aside from being into illegal drugs trade, the suspect is also reportedly engaged in gun- running.

Grajo is detained at the lock-up cell of the Bacolod City Police and will be facing charges for illegal drug and drug paraphernalia possession and for illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions.*APN

‘Snatcher’ mauled

One of the two alleged snatchers who victimized a teenager, was mauled by bystanders after he fell from the motorcycle they were riding, at about 1:30 a.m. yesterday at 13th-Aguinaldo streets, Bacolod City, while his companion evaded arrest.

Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, identified the one arrested as Robert Jimenez, 27, of Purok Kagaycay in Brgy. 2, Bacolod City.

Dejucos said Jimenez’s neighbor and cohort, identified as “alias JR,” was able to escape on board the motorcycle.

Complainant Rachel Anne Vinco, 19, of 13th-Aguinaldo Street, told the police, that she was walking on her way home when two men on a black Rusi motorcycle with no plate number, passed by and snatched her bag.

Vinco said she tussled with Jimenez, who fell to the ground, and was able to retrieve her bag, that contained her wallet with P7,000 in cash and a cellular phone valued at P1,200.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said they are looking into the possibility that Jimenez was also involved in the snatching incident, that victimized nursing graduate Riem Love Villaflor Anquillano, 22, of Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

Investigation showed that Anquillano and her friend Mergelyn Losaria were walking on their way home at about 6 p.m. Saturday after their review class, when two men riding in tandem on a red motorcycle passed by them. One of them snatched Anquillano’s bag, but she fought back, fell and hit her head on the pavement, the police said.

Losario rushed her to the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital, where she remained being comatose and died five days later, police records showed.

De la Paz said Jimenez fits the description of one of the suspects, who has a tattoo on his right thigh. He appealed to witnesses to the incident involving Anquillano and all snatching victims in the areas to visit Station 2 and identify Jimenez , so they can file formal charges against him.*APN
