Murder raps vs.
cop unfair, brother says

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The relatives of a policeman tagged as the suspect in the fatal shooting of a banker in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City, last month complained of alleged unfair treatment in his case.

Rommel Taleon, elder brother of Police Officer 2 Mauro Taleon, said his brother had been subjected to trial by publicity. He said his brother and his three colleagues had come from a birthday party in Banga CEGASCO and went directly to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office to report for duty.

He claimed that his brother and his companions did not go the 4P's Convenience store where Jonel Ealdama, 49, of Brgy. Estefania, was shot. He said that they felt bad that his brother was charged for murder despite his paraffin test that, he said, show him negative of gun powder nitrates.

"My brother has no derogatory record in our place in Brgy. Dancalan, Ilog", he said.

PO2 Taleon is still detained at Police Station 4. He is charged for murder and frustrated murder for the death of Ealdama and the injury of his 16-year-old son.*APN
