Pa may face raps
for stabbing son

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A man from Murcia town, Negros Occidental, may face frustrated parricide charges for reportedly stabbing his own son during a brawl at their house Wednesday.

It is, however, not certain yet whether the family of Ruel Sebuan, 49, of Brgy. Lopez Jaena will pursue the case against him or not, Murcia town police chief, Senior Insp. Norberto Barniso said.

Investigation showed that Ruel Sebuan was having drinks at his house when his son Raymond, 19, arrived at about 8:30 p.m. and seemed to be under the influence of liquor.

The elder Sebuan reportedly got mad when his son talked back when he scolded him for coming home late and that led to a brawl and eventually to the stabbing, Barniso said.

The younger Sebuan sustained stab wounds on his chest and stomach and was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, where he is now confined, while the elder Sebuan, who also accompanied his son and wife to the hospital, later surrendered to the Murcia police and is now detained.

The suspect apologized to his son, wife and in-laws, claiming that he did not mean what he did.

Edna Sebuan, the suspect’s wife, however, said she still needs to ask her son if he will pursue the charges against his father.*APN
