Charges filed vs.
farmer for rape

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Charges for rape and other forms of sexual molestation in relation to child abuse, were filed before the Negros Occidental Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against a farmer from Murcia town Thursday who allegedly molested his 6-year-old neighbor at about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The farmer, whose name the police withheld, claimed that he was not of sane mind then, because he was under the influence of liquor when he committed the crime.

Murcia town police chief, Senior Insp. Norberto Barniso, said the suspect wanted to rape the child’s mother, but she fought back and was able to escape.

When the child’s mother was gone, the suspect went inside their room and saw the child sleeping, Barniso said.

He carried the child, threw her out of the window before going out of the house, and dragged her towards a cassava plantation, where he molested her, Barniso also said.

The victim’s father was not around at the time as he was in Bacolod City, where he works as a store merchandiser

The victim is now under the custody of the Women and Children’s Complaints desk.*APN
