PhilHealth deploys 33 nurses

Thirty-three nurses hired by the PhilHealth 6 under its PhilHealth Customer Assistance, Relations and Empowerment Staff Project were deployed to various hospitals in Western Visayas effective yesterday.

Initially, 18 tertiary hospitals will have permanent CARES nurses while roving nurses will be deployed to levels I and II government hospitals, PhilHealth regional head Dr. Dennis Mas, said.

They will serve as frontline officers of the state health insurance to ensure a hassle-free availment of benefit, he said.

The nurses are tasked to provide essential information on membership, premium contribution and eligibility requirement for benefit availment and directly respond to issues and concerns of members, Mas said.

“We are putting PhilHealth staff in hospitals for our members to be eased from the burden of going to our office to inquire and request for necessary documents that would warrant their availment of benefits,” he added.

The CARES project is expected to also lessen the incidence of return to hospital claims or even rejected claims.

The CARES staff could also enlist new members to the National Health Insurance Program and even conduct information, education and campaign activities to empower members of their rights and responsibilities.*PNA
