Navarra to be main celebrant
at funeral of Bro. Roly today

Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra will be the main celebrant at the funeral mass for Bro. Rolando Ramos Dizon at the University of St. La Salle Chapel in Bacolod City at 3 p.m. today.

Fr. Rolando Quijano will deliver the homily.

Dizon, 67, succumbed to an almost 10-year battle with colon cancer at the De La Salle Health Sciences Institute in Dasmariñas, Cavite on April 25, 2012.

He was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2003 and underwent surgery in Houston Texas.

His sister, Josefa Puentevella, said Dizon will be buried at the family mausoleum at the Rolling Hills Memorial Park after the funeral service at the USLS chapel today.

Dizon was the son of the late Raymundo and Hermilinda Ramos Dizon.

He was chairman of the Commission on Higher Education from 2003-2004, member of the Consultative Commission on Charter Change in 2005, and president of De La Salle University-Manila and the De La Salle University System (1998–2003).

He was also president of the University of St. La Salle and Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association in Bacolod, co-founder of the National Movement for Free Elections and had served as president of the medical institution where he died.

Dizon finished his primary and secondary education at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from the Catholic University of America, took up his Master of Arts degreein Education Administration at De La Salle University Manila,and his Doctorate degreein International Development Education at theStanford University School of Education.

He was a Ten Outstanding Young Men Awardee and in 2006, Dizon was given the Distinguished Lasallian Award by the De La Salle Alumni Association in De La Salle University-Manila.*CGS
