Reward up for slain
Capiz vice mayor

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, -- Governor Victor Tanco yesterday said the Provincial Government of Capiz and Transportation and Communication Secretary Mar Roxas are offering a P500,000 reward money for the immediate arrest of the assassins of Mambusao Vice Mayor Abel Martinez, even as they strongly condemned the brutal killing.

Roxas City Mayor Angel Alan Celino also pledged P100,000 in addition to province’s standing reward against the assassins.

Police authorities are now conducting intensive investigation and hot pursuit operation for the immediate arrest of assassins.

After being informed of the brutal killing of Martinez at about 6 a.m. yesterday,  Tanco,  instructed the police led by Capiz PNP Provincial Director Domingo Cabillan to give immediate attention to the slaying.

Martinez, a practicing medical doctor and a former three-term member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Capiz, sustained five gunshot wounds, three in the head and two in the chest.

Roxas said, he is asking the help of Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo and the Philippine National Police to give priority the immediate resolution of the case.

Martinez, was the second incumbent vice mayor killed in Capiz. The first was Tapaz Vice Mayor Victor Gardose who was murdered on December 30, 2006.*PNA
