Lipat-on special polls
winners proclaimed

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Seventy-five percent of the voters in Barangay Lipat-on, Calatrava, turned out at a special election held Saturday, that was peaceful and orderly this time, Provincial Elections Supervisor Jessie Suarez said yesterday.

The special election was held after the COMELEC had declared a failure of the October 15, 2010 polls, and directed all its officials to vacate their posts.

A failure of election was declared because the path to the polling place in 2010 had been blocked and only 249 out of 800 voters in the barangay were able to vote, Suarez said.

On Saturday 600 voters came out to vote and by 8 p.m. Saturday they were able to proclaim the winners, he said.

The perimeter area was secured by Philippine National Police public safety management personnel, and the outskirts by the Philippine Army, he said.

Jesus Delina won as Lipat-on brarangay captain with 409 votes over Ned Damondamon with 162 votes, Calatrava Election Officer Agnes Roullo said.

Damondamon had won in the 2010 election that the Comelec had declared a failure.

The winning kagawads Satrurday were Renato Lumanog - 411 votes, Erlinda Banogbanog - 410 Lorna Ricafranca - 409, Henrietta Sambilad - 400, Roy Antenero - 384, Danilo Mahilum - 380, and Avelino Quiatchon – 363, Roullo said.

Of the 53 Sangguniang Kabtaang registered voters 22 voted Saturday.

The winner for SK chair was Osmar Sambilad with 22 votes, while the winning SK Kagawads were Daisy Fernandez - 22 votes, Eduardo Lizada Jr. - 22 votes, Mira Mae Antenero - 22, Koxie Gomez - 21 Reynan

Omangayon - 21, Sherilyn Quiatchon - 21, and Dangie Mahilum - 20, Roullo added.*CPG
