Uy who recently attended the First International Organic Marketing Conference with Leu in Manila, said that he was surprised that the IFOAM president knows about Negros Occidental and its organic movement.

He said Leu told him the province has a big potential for getting into the international market.

He was also pleased to know that Negros Occidental has banned the entry of products containing genetically modified organisms and has passed an ordinance to support its organic movement, Uy said.

Uy said IFOAM is a grassroots and democratic organization that unites 750 member organizations in 116 countries. It provides platforms to stakeholders for a wide range of purposes in the organic world.
