Armed man holds
up gas station

An armed man held up a gasoline station and took P3,000 in cash at Araneta Street in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City, at about 2:35 a.m. Monday.

Allan Patrolla, pump boy of Shell gasoline station, told the police that the suspect arrived on board a motorcycle and declared a hold-up.

Patrolla said the suspect, who was wearing a jacket and had a scar on his right leg, threatened him with a gun and demanded that he give him the money.

City Police Special Operations Task Group head, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, said that even if the suspect was able to take only P3,000, the incident is alarming as it is the second robbery case involving a business establishment this month.

On Saturday, a lone suspect, also on a motorcycle, robbed the M Lhuillier financial services firm at Araneta Street in Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, and took P14,000 in cash.

An ex-convict, who is facing robbery charges, has been tagged as the suspect in the hold-up at M Lhuillier , the police said.

Rapiz said they are looking into the possibility that the suspect in the pawnshop robbery and that one at the gasoline station could be the same person, based on the manner of committing the crime.

He said the suspect is taking the opportunity thinking that policemen are busy securing the revelers of the MassKara Festival at the downtown area.*APN

Cops recover abandoned car

Station 9 policemen recovered an abandoned car in Brgy. Cabug, Bacolod City at about 6 a.m. yesterday.

Bacolod City Police Director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, said that the maroon Toyota corolla with plate number FDH347 remained unclaimed up to press time yesterday.

De la Paz said they coordinated with the Land Transportation Office-Bacolod and found out that the car is registered in the LTO-Calinog, Iloilo province, under the name of Pregrina Senado of Cabatuan, in the same province.

He said they are wondering how the car had reached Brgy. Cabug, why it was abandoned there.

De la Paz added that, based on their initial investigation, there were no signs of struggle inside the car or any bloodstains although the police failed to open its compartment as it was locked.

The abandoned vehicle will be under the custody of Police Station 9 until its owner claims it.*APN
