Negrense dairy
workers hired in NZ

Two trained dairy farmers of Negros Occidental are now working at the Rosehill Dairy Farm Ltd. at North Chatton Road, Gore, New Zealand, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Renante Decena, said yesterday.

Glen Acuña of Silay City and Elmor Juanitas of Murcia town who were both trained at the Provincial Livestock Breeding Center and Dairy Farm and are now working for Kenny Baynes as dairy farm workers, Decena said.

He said they were trained in farm management, animal raising, dairy production and management, and in other skills related to farming.

Acuña and Juanitas are working in a 280-hectare farm and are taking care of 750 heads of dairy cows, Decena also said.

Decena said that he is happy that Negrense dairy farmers have earned the trust of the New Zealand breeders and dairy producers.

He said the farmers equipped themselves with knowledge in dairy production and animal raising through the training provided at the PLBCDF and that made the NZ employers accept them.

Meanwhile, PVO is now training 11 farmers at the Negros First Ranch and at the PLBCDF for overseas employment, Decena also said.

The trainees are Rhoderick Paul John Montaner, Alexander Hiponia, Marjun Alonsabe, Joevel John Omega, Christopher Alonsabe, Ronnie Mejica, Joemarie Neturada, Archie Clemen, Dexter John Aponte, Shernel Tan- San, and Bonifacio Umadhay. *LTG
