Firms urged to help city
in post-festival clean-up

A resolution requesting all business establishments who sponsored and advertised during the MassKara Festival to help remove and clean up the city of posters, streamers and banderitas used during the entire celebration, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod yesterday.

Authored by Councilor Cesar Distrito, the resolution said the celebration of the MassKara was very successful and was made more colorful by the streamers and banderitas placed around the downtown area, converting the entire stretch of Lacson street, from Lacson-Burgos streets until B S Aquino Drive into a venue for the biggest street party in the Philippines.

It also said it has always been observed that most sponsors and advertisers during the MassKara Festival celebration do not make any effort to remove and clean the areas they utilized to endorse their products after the festival is over.

Bacolod City has been recognized as the number one most livable cities in the Philippines for 2012 and one of the criteria which made it above the rest is its environmental condition, it said.

The SP also approved yesterday a resolution requesting the City Engineer's Office through Mayor Evelio Leonardia to repair the damaged road at 15 th Street from the corner of Lacson Street.

Authored by Councilor Em Legaspi-Ang, the resolution said Lacson Street is fast becoming the center of business and entertainment in Bacolod, and that the road from 15 th Street to the corner of Lacson Street is badly in need of repair and improvements, and impassable for light vehicles especially during rainy days because of large pot holes.

The resolution added that “there is a need to repair the road to benefit the citizenry and promote the welfare of the community.*CGS
