An accountant and defeated bet for councilor inBacolod City was apprehended by Station 4 policemen at his residence in Brgy. Montevista at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday on the strength of anarrest warrantfor violation of Republic Act 8294 or illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Station 4 chief, Senior Insp. Dianne Grace Aquitania said the arrest warrant against Emmanuel Benares Aguilar, “alias Epi”, Jr. 50, of Homesite Subdivision, Brgy. Montevista, Bacolod was issued by Regional Trial Court JudgeNapoleon Diamante, who set his bail at P60,000.
Aguilar was rushed to the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital after his arrest because he was not feeling well, she said.
Aquitania, however, said she has no idea about the background of the case as they only received the arrest warrant.
Aguilar was also arrested in July this year, after a raid conducted by the Criminal and Investigation Detective Group operatives yielded several bullets, which he denied were his.
CIDG-Bacolod head Chief Insp. Fernando Salvatierra also said that their investigation showed that Aguilar also has an arrest warrant for four counts of money laundering in Nevada, USA.
Aguilar ran for Councilor in the 2010 elections and also as barangay Captain of Montevista in the same year but lost.*APN back
