Forty-six
inmates are undergoing training in pandan twisting and weaving under the Basic
Skills Training Program of the Kabankalan City government in coordination with
the Department of Education and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
The program was launched recently at the BJMP compound with jail warden Chief
Inspector Rizaldy Navarro giving the welcome message, a press release from the
Kabankalan government said. Present were Vice Mayor Delia Anacan, Councilor
Anecito Villaluz Jr., Education Supevisor Bernadin Bendo, trainer Josephine Adad
and Technology and Livelihood Development coordinator Gladysmyr Diego.
A Basic Literacy Training was also held among the inmates to give them livelihood,
and with Diego to help them market their products, the press release said.
Meanwhile, Anacan vowed to give the inmates chess sets, two basketballs and gravel
and cement for the repair of their basketball court, the press release added.*
