Election officers in Oriental Negros will be reshuffled as the
country girds up for the national and local polls to be held on
May 14, this year.
Provincial election supervisor Manuel Advincula said the move
to re-assign some of election officers is based on Section 4 of
Republic Act 8189, which states that election officers can serve
in a designated station for not more than four years. Advincula
said he has already submitted to the Commission on Elections central
office a proposed list of election officers from the province who
will be affected by the reshuffling.
About 20 of them are in the list, excluding those who are
only in acting capacity such as Eddie Aba of the Dumaguete COMELEC
Office.
Oriental Negros has five cities and 20 municipalities, all
under the jurisdiction of Advincula's office.
The reshuffling will tentatively take place after March 31,
the deadline for the filing of certificates of candidacies seeking
election.
Advincula said that, so far, his office has not encountered
any problems regarding preparations for the May 14 polls, as election
paraphernalia, such as forms and other documents, have started arriving.
