'Verify text warning messages'
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Dumaguete police chief, Supt. Dionardo Carlos, yesterday cautioned the public against unwarranted reactions to text messages tagging four pedicab drivers as hold-uppers.

Carlos appealed to those with information helpful to the police to go straight to them, instead of passing on unverified text messages. He referred to a text message circulated two weeks ago identifying the body numbers of pedicabs plying the Dumaguete streets, whose drivers are allegedly hold-up men.

Carlos said although they are locating the operators and drivers of these public transport vehicles, the police cannot just jump to conclusions unless there is concrete evidence on the claim.

He said it is not right to judge these drivers as it will unjustly affect them, should the allegations turn out to be unfounded. Carlos said they will ask the help of City Hall to help them verify the operators of these pedicabs, by looking into their business permits and franchises. *JG
