Negros runners to join
Mambukal Team Relay

Long distance runners from different towns and cities in Negros Occidental are expected to join in the 2012 Mambukal Team Relay set on April 9 from Mambukal Resort in Murcia to Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Organizers said eight teams have already confirmed their entries in the Under-19 category, and another eight entries in the open division.

Early registrants for the Under-19 group include teams from the town of Calatrava, and cities of Escalante, Victorias and La Carlota. The local government units of Manapla, Bago and Bacolod cities, also indicated their intent to join the race, organizers said.

Referees’ seminar
set in Pototan

The Basketball Association of the Philippines will hold an Accreditation and Licensing Seminar on April 13 to 15 in Pototan Astrodome, Pototan, Iloilo, a press release from the group said.

About 50 basketball referees from Negros, Iloilo and other parts of Panay Island are expected to join the activity with international referee and BAP national commissioner Gil “Boy” Reglo leading the list of guest speakers.

Joining Reglo are BAP-Region 6 commissioner Jack Marañon, and BAP regional director Roger Banzuela, the press release said.

Gomez captures title in
Rotary golf tourney

Posting a net score of 45 points under the Stableford system, local golfer Bojie Gomez won the title in the Rotary 'Golf for a Cause' tournament held at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, a press release from the organizers said.

Joining Gomez in the winners’ row were Group A champion Max Javelona, Group B winner Paul Chang, and Group C No. 1 player James Salva from the Rotary Club of San Pedro, Laguna.

Taking the title in the ladies’ category was Cynthia Capay with 36 points, the press release said.
