2 ‘RPA-ABB' men nabbed
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Two suspects in a frustrated murder case, who claim to be members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade, were arrested Friday in Brgy. Pinowayan, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental and are now in jail.

Supt. Harold Tuzon, San Carlos police chief, said the arrest of alleged RPA-ABB members, identified as Eddie Larida and Marcelo Segira, yielded two M-1 garand rifles with seven clips of live ammunition.

The San Carlos policemen were assisted by the 6 th Regional Public Safety Battalion, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and 2Lt. Allen Mark Tacorda, in serving the arrest warrant, issued by San Carlos Regional Trial Court Kathrine Go, in Don Salvador Benedicto to Larida and Segira.

Police investigations showed that the frustrated murder charges against the two RPA-ABB members stemmed from the complaint of Jerry Endrina, who survived a shooting incident in Dec. 11, 2011, in Sitio Punod, Brgy. Prosperidad, San Carlos City, with the two arrested suspects among those allegedly involved.

Tuzon said the court has recommended P200,000 bail for each of the accused persons.

Police records also showed that Larida and Segira ranked 9 th and 10 th among the most wanted persons in San Carlos City, respectively.

The two M1 garand rifles taken from them are now at the San Carlos City Police Station headquarters for verification and proper disposition, Tuzon, said in his report to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.

It has not been determined yet, if Larida and Segira are included in the list of RPA-ABB members in the 1 st district of Negros Occidental, profiled by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process. Tuzon also said that he has requested for additional personnel from the 6 th RPSB, to augment the local police force in securing their police headquarters.

Meanwhile, a certain Mary Talavera,29, surrendered a .45 caliber pistol with two magazines containing 11 live ammunition, allegedly owned by Carlo Severino Balbon, to the Silay police on Aug. 18.

Talavera told the police that she and her family were threatened allegedly by Balbon, a resident of Sitio Patuloy, Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City, and this prompted her to recover the gun from his house.* GPB
