A suspect in a rape case was arrested by the police in La Castellana town Friday, and two others were nabbed for illegal gambling and two counts of theft cases in the cities of Sagay and Silay, Negros Occidental, respectively.

A police team apprehended Jun Magno, 33, in Brgy. Lalagsan, La Castellana, for the crime of rape by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by La Carlota Regional Trial Court Judge Pepito Gellada, who denied him bail.

Chief Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez also reported the arrest of Michael James Nabia, 26, who was caught in the act of collecting jai-alai gambling bets at Crossing San Agustin, Brgy. Paraiso, Sagay City.

Gutierrez, who is the Sagay police chief, said the arrest of Nabia yielded assorted jai-alai illegal gambling paraphernalia, a cellular phone and P150 in alleged cash bets.

Nabia is now in jail.

A certain Daisy Casipe, alias Daisy Fuentes, was also apprehended by the police in Sitio Beranio, Brgy. Lantad, Silay City, by virtue of two arrest warrants issued by Judge Cyclamen Fernandez and Judge Napoleon Diamante, for the crime of theft.
