PACIWU wins
Ceres election

The Philippine Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Workers Union headed by Zoilo De la Cruz Jr. beat the Associated Labor Unions during the recent certification election for the Vallacar Transit Inc. Visayas Operation workers union.

Over-all score in Region 6 and Region 7 was 3,450 votes for PACIWU and 146 votes for ALU, a PACIWU press release said.

Even in Cebu Island where ALU is based and considered an ALU “stronghold”, ALU only got 29 votes while PACIWU got 754 votes, it added.

“The workers of Ceres Liner have spoken, this is a great victory for the workers who advocate real trade unionism through sincere service and industrial peace. This is not a victory for PACIWU alone, this is a victory for every Ceres employee and his family,” de la Cruz said.*
