Cop gets death threats
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The policeman turned whistle-blower who accused five of his colleagues in Negros Occidental as illegal gambling payola recipients is receiving death threats.

This was confirmed by Archbishop Emeritus Oscar Cruz in an interview with ABS-CBN Bacolod yesterday.

Cruz lauded the courage of Police Officer 3 Richard Delasa in exposing what he knows despite the fact that it will endanger his life.

Delasa, a member of the Regional Special Operations Group of Police Regional Office-6 before he went absent without leave in October this year, made the “exposé” at the Fernandina Media Forum at the Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City, Wednesday.

He also filed a complaint recently against his colleagues before the Department of Interior and Local Government, with the help of Cruz.

Cruz said that if the threats become worse, he is willing to help Delasa avail of the witness protection program.

On Friday Police Regional Office-6 Director Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz ordered Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz and Negros Occidental Provincial Police Officer-in-charge Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan to validate Delasa’s claims.

He also advised Delasa to show up and present evidence so those who are guilty will be held criminally and administratively liable, otherwise his exposes will be treated as mere allegations.*APN
