Comelec reshuffling looms
BY CARLA GOMEZ

A reshuffling of Commission on Elections officials in Western Visayas from the regional director, provincial supervisors, down to the election officers of the towns and cities could take place before the May 13 polls next year.

COMELEC chairman Sixto Brillantes had earlier asked all regional directors to submit their recommendations for possible reassignment of provincial election supervisors and town and city election officers for the purpose of advancing professional competency and integrity in the service.

“It bears emphasizing that proposals relating to the retention of the PEs and EOs in their own stations, or maintenance of the status quo, will not be accepted as it is incongruent to the COMELEC to fully reinforce its present workforce,” Brillantes said.

He assured that the Commission en banc will arrive at a sound decision beneficial to the entire COMELEC.

Provincial Election Supervisor Jessie Suarez, who has been assigned to Negros Occidental, yesterday said he has not received any order of transfer yet, but a reshuffling in the commission is normal practice.

He has submitted his recommendations on the reshuffling of election officers in Negros Occidental but has not received any orders from the COMELEC regional office yet on action to be taken, Suarez said.

All of us in the commission can be reshuffled anytime, he said.

“Reshuffling is for the good of the service, I am ready to be transferred if ordered to do so,” Suarez said.*CPG
