The Oriental Negros Children’s Advocacy Network and the Philippine Army held three medical and dental missions in four areas in Negros Oriental recently affected by tropical storm  Sendong.

Marietta Jambora, president of ONCAN, said the medical mission is also supported by the Hidden Pathway Ministries, Little Children of the Philippines  mobile clinic and the Philippines Nurses Association in Negros Oriental.

Jambora said they were able to serve at about 3,000 typhoon victims in Tanjay City, Sibulan and two areas in Dumaguete city.  The medical services included consultations, tooth extraction, free medicines and vitamins, electro cardiogram, x-ray,ultrasound and Complete blood count.

The Philippine Army, through the 79th Infantry Batallion, and the 302nd Brigade, also offered free haircut, body massage and acupuncture.

She added they are trying to reach out to all typhoon affected areas when medical services are needed by affected families especially little children the safety of children one of the priority areas in the ONCAN program she said.

The Office of the Civil Defense also provided free flu vaccines to areas in Mother Rita, Scandinavian Village and Habitat Housing projects in barangay Candau-ay in Dumaguete City.

The free flu vaccines administered during the medical mission Tuesday in Barangay Candau-ay heartfelt 2,000 children and adults.

Jambora said  Barangay Candau-ay is one of the focus area of ONCAN  as it is also a recipient of ONCAN projects.*MA
