75,581 workers deployed

The Public Employment Service Office in Bacolod City has deployed 75,581 overseas and local workers for 2011, Moises de la Cruz, PESO manager and Executive Assistant to Mayor Evelio Leonardia, said yesterday.

A total of 67,259 jobseekers were hired through local agencies like business process outsourcing, SM SuperMalls, Cliques Security Agencies, and other local establishments in Bacolod City, PESO monitoring report showed.

The 8,322 jobseekers were deployed through licensed recruitment agencies that conducted job fairs with PESO, de la Cruz said.

PESO assisted more than 20 licensed recruitment agencies in 2011 and has deployed Bacoleños abroad. Among the agencies were Blazing Star International Manpower Services, Pieces International, Lead Resources Management Corp., France Asia International Inc., YWA Human Resources, FSL International, and Jones Agency.

Those hired for overseas jobs were skilled workers, service crews, domestic helpers, mall workers, medical professionals, and engineers in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Dubai, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hongkong, de la Cruz also said.

Recently, the Bureau of Local Employment reported that Western Visayas ranked second in the highest jobs placements in 2011 next to Region IV-A.

De la Cruz said DOLE based their data on the deployment reports submitted by PESOs of every local government unit. It means that PESOs in Negros Occidental have worked hard to channel jobs and Bacolod City is asserting extra efforts to reduce the unemployment rate of the city, he added.

Meanwhile, representatives of Pieces International will be at PESO today for initial interviews for skilled jobs abroad while personnel of Placewell International will conduct a job fair on Feb. and 13.

Other local jobs needed are a secretary for Gibrosen Company, accounting personnel for RKJ General Marketing Services, and field marketing officer for Philippine Rural Bank, Inc.

Applicants can send their applications and resumes to PESO. *LTG
