NORECO aims to expand
electrification to 24 sitios

BY RENE GENOVE

The Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative 1 is one of the two electric cooperatives in Negros Oriental  seeking the electrification of 24 sitios in its coverage area this year.

The cooperative has already submitted its request to the National Electrification Administration for the electrification of  sitios that  do not have access to electricity due to their  remote locations.

Around P12.6 million is needed to light up households in those areas,  Aristarco Samontañes, NORECO 1 operation and maintenance chief, said.

They expect the NEA to release the funds sometime within the first quarter of this year, Samontañes added.

NORECO 1 covers 11 towns and cities in the northern side of the province  such as  Vallehermosond, Mabinay, Manjuyod, Bindoy, Ayungon, Tayasan, Jimalalud and  La Libertad towns,  and the cities of Guihulngan, Bais and Canlaon.*RG
