UNDOC: No transport strike;
But protest rally set in March

They will not go on strike but will hold a protest rally on March 15 calling for the review of the Oil Deregulation Law and oil price increases, Nilo Frias, deputy chairperson of the United Negros Drivers Operators Center, said yesterday.

Frias said the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide, the mother-organization of UNDOC will hold a week-long protest action from March 12 to 16, but have an option whether to go on strike or not.

He said they will not go on strike on March 12 because it is also the opening of the 2012 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association meet.

LTFRB posts P27.7
million in revenues

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Western Visayas has recorded P27,729,344 in revenue collections for 2011 and aims to increase its collection this year by 5 to 10 percent, LTRB regional director Romulo Bernardes said yesterday.

Bernardes said the amount covered the collection of penalties, violations, and fines from operators, supervision fees, confirmation and verification, resealing, and the application of franchises.

He also said LTFRB does not focus on revenue collection but more on the regulatory side.

Prov’l government disperses
more livestock for livelihood

The Provincial Veterinary Office through the Negros First livestock and poultry dispersal project of Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr., has distributed 3,103 farm animals as of yesterday, Catheryn Narez, PVO livestock coordinator, said yesterday.

Narez said PVO dispersed 2,965 kabir chicks and 138 piglets to farmers, pastors, members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit, and other recipients identified by local government units in the province.

The recipients are from the towns of Ilog, Cauayan, Murcia, San Enrique, Hinigaran, and the cities of Kabankalan, Bago, and Silay, she said.
