Prov’l government disperses
more livestock for livelihood

The Provincial Veterinary Office through the Negros First livestock and poultry dispersal project of Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr., has distributed 3,103 farm animals as of yesterday, Catheryn Narez, PVO livestock coordinator, said yesterday.

Narez said PVO dispersed 2,965 kabir chicks and 138 piglets to farmers, pastors, members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit, and other recipients identified by local government units in the province.

The recipients are from the towns of Ilog, Cauayan, Murcia, San Enrique, Hinigaran, and the cities of Kabankalan, Bago, and Silay, she said.

They will also distribute farm animals to 90 beneficiaries from Ilog and Hinoba-an towns next month, Narez added.

Meanwhile, the PVO conducted poultry and livestock management and raising seminar to 100 barangay officials and members of the Negros First Barangay Kagawad Association of Talisay City recently.

Narez said the barangay officials were trained in basic poultry management, swine raising, and other raising techniques that will help them grow the animals with less mortality incidents.

The PVO also discussed their responsibilities once they qualify as beneficiaries of the dispersal program, she added.

Last year, the PVO distributed 34,561 farm animals to 3,991 beneficiaries in people’s organizations, pastors, farmers, and rebel returnees.*LTG
