The Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade yesterday strongly debunked allegations that its members were responsible for ransacking game fowl farms in Murcia, Negros Occidental, and dismissed it as “cheap propaganda mileage”.
RPA-ABB spokesman Victorino Sumulong said the statement of Esteban Coscolluela that his cock farm was ransacked by bonnet-wearing armed men announcing that they are RPA-ABB members, is a testimony full of lies and orchestration.
Coscolluela had slammed the Murcia police for its failure to solve the ransacking incidents, and said the armed group behind it, had stolen more than 100 fighting cocks, since June last year.
In an open letter to Marañon and other police and local government officials, Coscolluela said the armed suspects recently entered his game fowl farm in Brgy. Blumentritt, Murcia, took 19 fighting cocks, with a market value of P12,000 each, and shot his breeding partner, Bobsy Silverio, on Dec. 28 last year.
Sumulong, in a statement e-mailed to the DAILY STAR, said RPA-ABB members, especially in the countryside of Murcia and Talisay, under the command of Ka Jomel, are even usually asked for help by cock farm owners to secure their farm from robbers.
Quoting Police Officer 3 Danilo Pastro, Coscolluela, a former mayor of Murcia, in his open letter of appeal, a copy of which also furnished Presidential Adviser on Peace Process Teresita Quintos-Deles, said Silverio was blamed for circulating allegations that the RPA-ABB was behind the series of incidents, and that he will be subjected to an investigation for it by the armed group.
Silverio, however, said all he said was that heavily armed men wearing bonnets, had ransacked the cockfarm, Coscolluela said.
“This was a shock to Mr. Silverio, because since when was the RPA authorized to investigate civilians and take over the job of the police,” the former Murcia mayor asked.
Coscolluela added that SPO3 Danilo Mercurio also told Silverio that he was the target, not the game cocks.
He also said the statements of Pastro and Mercurio are revelations of sorts that they know something, and nothing was done to prevent the shooting of Silverio.
Sumulong said Coscolluela wants to project himself as a victim of harassment, and that the easy way to have media mileage is by using the name of the RPA-ABB, in preparation for his 2013 political plan. He added that it can be seen that this is intended to malign the RPA-ABB and to use this orchestrated scenario for his personal interest.
Sumulong also said the allegations of Coscolluela through an open letter forwarded to the Governor, is another cheap propaganda mileage to attract sympathy and support from Murciahanon, and the 3rd district, as 2013 is fast approaching.*GPB
