Four unidentified men held up a delivery truck of Bacolod Columbia Marketing Inc. and took P200,000 in cash from its passengers in Cauayan town, Negros Occidental, at about 12 a.m. Saturday.
Cauayan town police commander, Chief Insp. Romeo Leyte said that the truck was on its way to its office in Bacolod City when four men on board two motorcycles blocked it in Brgy. Linaon.
Leyte said the suspects threatened booking salesmen Julian Verde, 41, of Bago City and Jinnie Dela Peña and driver Jomarie Sayasan, 41 with guns and declared a hold-up.
They took P400,000 in cash and in checks, destroyed the windshield at the passenger side before fleeing their motorcycles, police report showed.
Leyte said the robbers could be the same suspects who held up the softdrink delivery truck of Ilog Mayor Paul Alvarez, whose salesman-driver was divested of P20,000 in cash collections in Brgy. Inawayan in September last year, and other delivery vans in Brgy. Bulata.
He said the suspects could have transferred their operations in Brgy. Linaon from Barangays Bulata and Inawayan because there is now a Community Police Assistance Center in these places.
Leyte added that the robbers may have chosen to transfer operations to Brgy. Linaon as it is very secluded and is about 33 kilometers away from the town proper.
The Cauayan town police are meeting with the officials of Brgy. Linaon to discuss measures to curb highway robberies in the area.*APN
