Stolen ducks allegedly caused the untimely death of a jeepney driver, who was shot and stabbed by his neighbors, at about 11:30 p.m. Monday in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City.
Station 7 commander, Chief Insp. Levy Pangue, identified the fatality as Ronilo Magayon, 29, of Purok Malipayon 2 in Brgy. Alijis, who died on the spot from the stab and gunshot wounds he sustained.
Investigation conducted by Senior Police Officer 1 Artus Escuarda showed that Magayon was about to ride a trisikad when the suspects, identified as Roberto Buyco, “alias Berong”, 59, Ambrosio Bacus, Johnny and Jun Jun Nuñez, blocked his way and ganged up on him.
Buyco allegedly stabbed Magayon and when the victim was already lying on the ground, Bacus also shot him. Buyco was arrested after the incident while Bacus surrendered to Alijis Barangay Captain Deogracias dela Vega at about 1:30 p.m., Escuarda said.
Buyco, in a television interview, denied his involvement in the crime but a witness positively identified him.
A 14-inch bladed weapon, believed to be used in stabbing the victim, was recovered at the crime scene, a police report shows.
Pangue said Buyco’s wife reported to the police several weeks ago that their ducks were gone and that they suspected Magayon of stealing them.
He added that Magayon had been the subject of other complaints in Alijis.
The relatives of Magayon said that if he indeed committed lapses, he should have been reprimanded instead of being killed.*APN
